Saving costs with zipped data files with IRIS 0.7.4

With IRIS 0.7.4, official release of IRIS Software Platform and MDM for PRIME devices launched in july 2014, a new and important feature has been included although it was present partially in previous versions. In this new revision of the platform, the feature is fully functional and supported.

IRIS Platform means saving costs for our customers (in time when operating with the devices, for a better knowledge of their devices, saving operation time with massive and incremental firmware upgrades, detecting PLC problems and much more); in this case, the ability of the system for the management of compressed communications with data concentrators will impact the final bill for data transfers in those cases where the communications tariff depends on the amount of data transmitted.

Some data concentrators vendors, such as ZIV and Circutor, include the feature by which all requests, reports and any other file to be transmitted, are sent compressed to the Central System Software. This ability in extremely important because:

  • Bandwith savings: in those connections with data concentrators being invoiced by the amount of data transmitted, this feature can save up to 80% of the cost during any month, dropping down considerably the final invoice. In any system with a number of data concentrators like that one, the saving can be significantly high.
  • Speed: although in 3G of fiber optic conecctions will not be impacted in the speed of the transmittions of compressed data, with GPRS/GSM this feature can have a big difference. In these cases, the speed of the requests will be improved and will allow to operate with the devices faster and smoothly.

This is just one more of the advanced capabilities of IRIS as a Software Platform that will save final costs for our customers. Save is good!, IRIS is good!
